Privacy policy

VideoCutterStudio is a video editor you use in your browser or in our app. This page explains, in plain words, what we keep, why, and what you can do about it. Questions? Use our contact form or email info@videocutterstudio.com.
What we keep
- Your account: your username, your password (stored only as a secure hash, never readable), your email address if you give one, your plan, and your settings (like layout and watermark).
- What you put in: the videos you upload or record, the exports you make, your projects, sounds, voice-overs, pictures, fonts and watermark logo.
- Subtitles: when you ask for automatic subtitles, the speech in your video is turned into text on our own server. Your video is not sent to another company for this.
- Payments: paid plans are bought through Gumroad. We only keep your license key and its status (active, cancelled, ended). We never see your card or bank details; Gumroad's own privacy policy applies to the payment.
- Activity log: to keep the service safe and fix problems, we log actions like logging in, uploads and exports, with the time and IP address. Only the newest 5,000 lines are kept.
- On your device: one cookie to keep you logged in, and a few saved preferences in your browser (like layout and the Replay setting). No advertising or tracking cookies.
What we don't do
- No ads, no analytics or tracking companies, no selling or sharing of your data.
- Your videos are private. They are never shown to other users.
- Admins can't watch your videos or projects unless you give permission (you can say yes or no when asked, and take it back any time). The only exception is a serious suspicion of illegal content; then an admin may look, the reason is written down, and every look is logged.
Where it's stored
Everything is stored on our own server and is processed there: cutting, exporting and subtitles. Emails from VideoCutterStudio (like password resets) are sent through our email provider.
How long we keep it
- Your account and files stay until you delete them or delete your account.
- Exports may be removed automatically after a while to save space; your original videos stay.
- When an account is deleted, its videos, exports, projects, sounds, fonts and watermark are removed from the server right away.
Deleting your account
You can delete your account yourself, on the website or in the app:
- Log in and open your account menu (your name at the top right).
- Open Delete my account at the bottom.
- Type your password and DELETE, then press Delete my account for good.
Your account and everything in it are deleted at once. If you can't log in anymore, email info@videocutterstudio.com from the address on your account and we'll delete it for you. Shared accounts (like the demo) have no personal data and can't be deleted.
Your rights
You can ask to see, correct, download or delete your data, and you can object to how we use it. Email info@videocutterstudio.com; we answer within 30 days. You can also complain to your data protection authority (in the Netherlands: the Autoriteit Persoonsgegevens).
Children
VideoCutterStudio is not meant for children under 16.
Changes
If this policy changes, we update the date at the top. Important changes are announced by email.
